Data is presented on measurements of radioactivity recorded in material of soil, grass, and birch collected from various sites in Scandinavia during the period late July 1986 until mid‐August 1986. The values obtained near Otta, to the east of the Jotunheimen mountains are particularly enhanced. Birch was found to be a particularly useful bio‐indicator
