A new species of palaemonid shrimp, Periclimenes anacanthus, is described and illustrated.As a species of the "Periclimenes grandis species group", it is most closely related to P. calmani Tattersall or P. ensifrons (Dana) and P. grandis (Stimpson).The species is apparently free-living and associated with Zosterabeds in southern Queensland
