Relational depth is a profound moment of connection in the therapeutic relationship and accounts for 10-30% of positive effects of therapy. Although there seems to be a spiritual component to relational depth, no research, to date, has explored the spirituality of the therapist who invites moments of relational depth. The purpose of this conceptual paper is to explore the ways that Ingersoll’s 10 components of spiritual wellness connect with foundations of relational depth. It is postulated that therapists’ spiritual wellness could enhance their capacity to invite moments of relational depth in the therapeutic encounter. A case study and implications are included
Conceptual framework · Relational model · Relational theory · Spirituality · Therapeutic relationship · Counseling Practices and Supervision · Counseling, Therapy, and Family Dynamics · Religion, Spirituality, and Psychology
