Nous présentons dans cet article une synthèse des orientations actuelles de la recherche en archéobotanique et quelques pistes de recherche concernant l’apport de l’ethnoarchéologie et de l’expérimentation à l’étude de la gestion des combustibles au Mésolithique.La diversité des activités liées au feu est attestée par des témoins directs (matériaux brûlés) et indirects tels que les matériaux (ou les traces de leur travail sur les artefacts) nécessitant un traitement thermique. Cette multiplicité renvoie à des processus de gestion des combustibles complexes et culturellement signifiants qui restent difficiles à mettre en évidence d’un point de vue archéologique : selon quelles modalités s’effectuait la collecte de combustible ? Quelle est la relation entre les combustibles disponibles et les combustibles choisis, entre la fonction des foyers et la fonction des sites
