L’objectiu de l’article és fer una aproximació al fenomen del gerencialisme universitari i i la relació que té amb el sistema de publicació científica. En el vessant acadèmic, l’adopció de tècniques i discursos associats a l’univers de la gestió inclou una visió específica sobre per què i com es publica, a més de la finalitat que cal donar a allò que s’ha publicat. Aquest treball explora el discurs que legitima tal visió i reconstrueix l’arquetip conductual i emocional que prescriu. Aquesta reconstrucció és possible a partir del material empíric que proporcionen diferents manuals, seminaris i cursos dirigits al professorat universitari amb la intenció de millorar-ne la productivitat publicadora. Per últim, es fa una reflexió crítica sobre les implicacions que aquest discurs i arquetip tenen en contextos acadèmics semiperifèrics en termes de producció i consum de coneixement científic
