In this chapter, it is proposed that we live today in a new era, called the Anthropocene, and also that contemporary educational thought does not sufficiently take account of this. Instead, education is understood as situated first of all as taking place in a late-modern, purely human-made society, and thus not in a wider biosphere, as is addressed by the Anthropocene concept. The chapter works out an alternative to such Earth-forgetfulness through three steps. In the first step, it is argued that the idea of the Anthropocene implies a redescription of the age in which we are living, which calls for a reconsideration of what education today should be about and how it should proceed. In the next step, Wolfgang Klafki’s theory of Bildung is taken up as an example of how contemporary welfare-state educational thinking relies on humanistic presuppositions and, consequently, is unable to bring about satisfying educational answers to the Anthropocene. Finally, as a third step, a new pedagogical understanding and ideal, called Cautiousness, is sketched out as a more responsive answer to the call of the Anthropocene
