In its programming, branding strategies, and attempts to influence media policy around the world, Netflix promotes a broad vision of globalized cultural and economic liberalism geared toward humanist principles, cosmopolitan branding, international free trade, technological disruption, and economic deregulation. This chapter traces Netflix’s politics across the company’s recent partnerships with powerful Democratic Party figures, its attempts to gain D.C. influence, and its international diplomatic and cultural policy apparatus. I argue that Netflix’s institutional politics encourage deregulatory platform-imperialist practices, while its cosmopolitan brand promotes the platform as a responsible, progressive global actor. The publicly visible elements of the latter practice both ease and mask the behind-the-scenes wheeling and dealing of the former
