Since people do not get perfectly cured, a decision scale helps to provide a graphic picture of the change that does occur. A person's position on the decision scale correlates with different degrees of stress needed to produce scripty behavior. A low decision scale position requires a high stress before any discounts occur and vice versa. The decision scale is used to indicate how winners and losers handle stress and to assist in the definition of supportive and reconstructive treatment
