A stroke filter and an internal stroking system exist for each person and are important in the total stroke economy. Since internal stimuli have a similar effect as external stimuli, the same basic term “strokes” (with subdivisions of internal strokes and external strokes) is suggested. Filtered strokes occur with both types. How internal and external strokes occur in the ways of structuring time and the various factors in determining stroke needs are discussed. An awareness of each client's internal and external stroke economy is vital in the therapeutic process
