Resistance to affirmative action follows a predictable five-stage cycle. An important factor in this resistance is the strength of personal prejudice, which emanates from a double contamination of the Adult ego state. Interventions to reduce such resistance include decontamination and redecision work, which must be specifically focused at each stage of the resistance
