On the basis of four religious works – manuscripts on the Apostolic Creed Venets very by Symeon of Polotsk; manuscripts on the church sacraments, Kniga o tajnah sedmi, by Evfimii Chudovskii; and old printed handbooks for confessors addressed to the clergy, Mir s Bogom (Kiev 1669), and to the simple believers Nauka o pokajanii (Kiev 1671) – this article explores Catholic influences on the Russian and Ukrainian Orthodox literature of the second half of the seventeenth century that resulted in different terminological and theological borrowings new for Orthodox religious thought
