In this article, oGardiner 304 recto, 7–verso, 3 is subjected to a renewed analysis. The text is a prayer directed to Amun by a socially disadvantaged person. The god, introduced in the shape of a bull, is asked for assistance against human adversaries. The article aims to construct a parallel, focussing an the words k3, ‘bull’, b, ‘horn’ and nśnś, ‘burn’. The closest parallel can be found in a hymn of a sufferer from illness (CG 42237), who compares the situation of his illness to the threats of foreign enemies. In this case, too, it is hoped that assistance to surpass the crisis will be provided by Amon. The words b, ‘horn’ and šmm, ‘glow’ can be stated as links
