The increasing presence of conflict, which is acquiring a total character, is the principal feature of the current situation. Conflicts are not only embracing increasingly wider spheres of social life but, when they are not resolved, become a smoldering fire that can flare up with new vigor when there is the slightest change in the social atmosphere. Labor conflicts, starting with the wage problem, have gradually grown into political strikes, and the reborn labor movement has become a powerful factor in economic and political reforms. Analysis of the dynamics of conflicts, the change in their character, and the increasing complexity of their form and content make it possible to see the paths of their development, as well as to determine their place in the process of society's transition to a market economy and to democratic forms of authority
