To a large extent, ideas of social fairness in society are determined by the distributive relations that have been established in that society. Study results show that conceptions of social fairness in regard to fair wages are especially important in Russian society and are closely linked to the amount, character, and content of the work that is done, and the level of compensation in a specific enterprise. The conclusion is that the group interests of those invested with power and control of property constitute an important factor that blocks the setting of wages in keeping with ideas of social justice
