アティシャ(Atiśa, 982–1054)の主著『菩提道灯論』の教説のうち,最も重要で議論を招いてきたものは,性瑜伽を伴う秘密・般若智灌頂の禁止であろう.アティシャは『菩提道灯論』で,梵行の重要性と『本初仏大タントラ』(*Paramādibuddhatantra, Dang po sangs rgyas rgyud chen)の教説を挙げ,秘密・般若智灌頂を禁止しているが,『本初仏大タントラ』について詳しい説明を行っていない.題名の類似性から,アティシャがいう『本性仏大タントラ』とは一般に『カーラチャクラタントラ』であると見なされるが,『カーラチャクラタントラ』の如何なる記述が二つの灌頂を禁じるかについては不明であり,研究者が様々に推測してきた.本稿は『カーラチャクラタントラ』とその注釈書『ヴィマラプラバー』の本文を取り上げ,秘密・般若智灌頂の禁止が実際に『カーラチャクラタントラ』によって裏付けられているかを,先行研究の解釈を吟味しながら再検討する.結論として,秘密・般若智灌頂の禁止は『カーラチャクラタントラ』で説かれていないことを明らかにし,アティシャが二つの灌頂を禁止するにあたって根拠とする典籍についていまだ確認できないことを指摘したい
