The article analyses various press articles published in the second half of the 19th century and dedicated to the life and works of Jadwiga Papi. The methods of reviewing Papi’s works by literary critics and the criteria of evaluation of her texts shall be discussed. Also, the relationship between evaluation of Papi’s works and the programme of education of children and teenagers shall be investigated. Further, the article examines the methods of creation of the image of Jadwiga Papi in the texts written as a form of jubilee commemoration and obituaries. The analysis of these texts shall be conducted in the context of relationship between the image of her person and the evaluation of her literary works
