The complexity of the rules for the use of prepositions is one of the sources of difficulties in learning French as a foreign language. The use of prepositions often depends on the context and the speaker’s intention. The substitution of one preposition for another can be used to express a particular meaning and should not be considered incorrect, but rather as the emergence of an original semantic relationship. The notion of prepositional error, in our opinion, is a questionable idea, especially among foreign language learners. This article aims to identify and analyze uses related to the two spatial prepositions "dans" and "sur" in a concrete context, in the teaching and learning of French as a foreign language, in the production of Jordanian learners of French at Mutah University in Jordan
