Valeria Esteves is an architect from Facultad de Arquitectura, Diseño y Urbanismo, Universidad de la República, Uruguay. She has been part of Centro Cooperativista Uruguayo (CCU) since 2011, first on the projects team and since 2013 working at building sites with cooperative groups managing construction. She has been a member of cooperative housing since 2010 working actively on different committees. She has been a professor at FADU-UDELAR at the Technologies Institute since 2007 and currently lives in Montevideo.Cristina Gamboa is a chartered architect and teacher. She studied at Barcelona School of Architecture (ETSAB) and University of Stuttgart. Gamboa is cofounder of Lacol, a nonprofit cooperative of architects based in Barcelona, where she has focused on developing cooperative housing projects. Their collective work has been recognized and exhibited locally and internationally, including the Mies van der Rohe Award (Emergent Category, 2022). She currently teaches at AA (MPhil in Architecture and Urban Design—Projective Cities) and ETSAB (PIII_IV Contemporary Collective Housing).Tehila Sasson is an associate professor of modern history at the University of Oxford. Her book The Solidarity Economy: Nonprofits and the Making of Neoliberalism after Empire came out in May 2024 with Princeton University Press. She has written on the history of nonprofits and fair trade, decolonization and neoliberalism, development aid and gender, boycotts and corporate social responsibility and the relationship between humanitarianism and empire in the American Historical Review, Past & Present and Dissent among other places. She serves as the coeditor of the journal Modern British History (OUP).Stavros Stavrides, architect and activist, is emeritus professor at the School of Architecture, National Technical University of Athens. He has done extensive research fieldwork in Brazil, Uruguay, Argentina, Colombia, Venezuela and Mexico focused on housing-as-commons and on urban struggles. Recent publications include: The Politics of Urban Potentiality (2024), Housing as Commons (coedited with Penny Travlou, 2023), Common Spaces of Urban Emancipation (2019), Towards the City of Thresholds (2019) and Common Space: The City as Commons (2016)
