With the broadening acceptability of casual dress in the workplace for many organizations in the United States, there is presently a window of opportunity to learn more about the cultures of these organizations undergoing such changes and the implications of relaxing the dress code. This research highlights the importance of the maneuvering within the medium of multiplicity of meanings associated with changes in workplace dress by way of a social constructionist interpretation. This interpretation utilizes an alternative method involving q‐sorts, and illustrates the use of ideological constellations involving two organizations. The method used allows for the transparency of the workplace element or culture to come through, as seen through the different ideological constellations and their relational constituent voices, while emphasizing the relational aspect of consumption. Research implications and directions for future research are discussed
