The diameters of the Sun, Moon and Earth's shadow-cone are important in the computation of lunar and solar eclipses. This paper discusses the procedures for computing the diameters of the Sun, Moon and Earth's shadow-cone according to the Makarandasāriṇῑ and the Gaṇakānanda texts. The results are compared with those of the basic siddhādntic text, the Sūryasiddhānta , and with the popular astronomical handbook, the Grahalāghava of Gaṇeśa Daivajña (CE 1520). A number of illustrative examples are provided, along with possible explanations
