This systematic literature review identifies, evaluates, and synthesizes all available evidence on blended teaching competencies in higher education using rigorous and transparent methodology through the PRISMA process and open thematic coding analysis. A systematic and comprehensive search within the relevant databases Academic Search Ultimate, APA PsychInfo, and ERIC was used to identify all relevant, peer-reviewed studies published from 2002-2022. A total of 34 articles were selected for review. The global themes of strategic combination, learner-centered, and additional support were identified with several sub-themes such as active learning, guidance, consistency, and potential. This systematic review provides evidence surrounding identifying and understanding the teaching competencies utilized by blended learning instructors in higher educational settings
