In this work, on cinematographic genres, we seek to discuss the issue of hybridization, an issue present in extensive studies on the subject. However, we will stick to the Brazilian cinema’s context and use as a case study the Boca do Lixo’s film Excitação (1976), by Jean Garret. Through film analysis, we will deepen our understanding of this work, which consciously explores different genres. We will focus on three directions: supernatural horror, science fiction and eroticism
