Situated in Applied and Implicated Linguistics (Moita Lopes, 2006; Souto Maior, 2023), this study aims to analyze the discourses of the Alagoan media regarding the transformations in the educational sphere resulting from the pandemic, highlighting discourses related to identities (Hall, 2020) and specifically to teacher identities (Souto Maior; Luz, 2019). It is important to observe new meanings regarding these practices in light of the abrupt social changes that occurred during the Covid-19 pandemic (Santos, 2020). We analyzed a report published on the Cada Minuto portal in 2020, and our research approach was qualitative (Flick, 2009), based on interpretivism (Moita Lopes, 2006). For data analysis, we utilized the dialogical perspective of discourse (Bakhtin, 1986; 2011; Volóchinov, 2021), characterizing the Engaging Discourses (Souto Maior, 2022; Oliveira; Souto Maior, 2022; Moreira Júnior; Souto Maior, 2020) and the notions of social identity. With the analysis, we observe: 1) the mobilization of engaging neoliberal discourses that address public education without developing the underlying causes; 2) discourses about the lack of preparation for the new reality in teaching practices, yet with some modalization regarding these challenges; 3) the invisibilization of the teacher's emotional suffering
