This work seeks to reflect on the educational power of narratives from elderly people in Juiz de Fora, a city that became a reference for modernity in Between the 19th and 20th centuries. In this city, one particular photographer became known for capturing urban life and its ordinary practitioners through almost six decades: Jorge Couri. If, on one hand, listening to the voices of people who have experienced life in this city throughout decades leads us to observe both the singularity and the plurality of urban life, on the other, capturing this narrated time allows us to understand social processes that shape Social Memory in its conflicts, tensions and movements
