The objective of this article is to analyze the experiences regarding the cultural heritage of the historic center of the city of Aracaju, considering the space as a human experience and as a place for the construction of identity and pedagogical possibilities. How can we conceive of official heritage as the materialization of the plurality of lived experiences and objects of historical-educational reflections? We work in dialogue with discussions about heritage and with the methodology of oral history, based on interviews with pre-determined groups of people, allowing the interviewee to speak freely about the subject. The city is an educator because it is a city, as it is an agent of education in itself, in the most varied areas of knowledge and for everyone
