Introduction: Can the school curriculum be considered an instrument of social inclusion? Objective: We conducted bibliographical and exploratory research, focusing on educational neoliberalism, understood as one of the main keys to understanding contemporary society and its implications for curricular policies. Methods: We linked this discussion to the social role of education, using data from a survey conducted by Ipec/UNICEF (August 2022) as our analytical corpus. Results: The results indicate that, from a sociological perspective, schools still constitute selective institutions, whose structural logic tends to exclude historically marginalized individuals from educational processes
