The theme of “news deserts” has gained even more relevance in academic research in recent years, following the publication of “Atlas da Notícia”, although this is not an academic study, but rather a census of local journalism in Brazil. The objective of this article is to analyzethe panorama of these municipalities in Brazil, considering officialdatabases. It is proposed to advance the concept established by that research, incorporating TV and FM retransmitters and community radio stations into the analysis. This leaves a universe of 938 news deserts in the country and another 1,273 municipalities where only community radios exist
