The socioeconomic and cultural transformations that took place during the period of modernization of the city of Belém, known as the “Belle Époque”, influenced the importation of a European model of society and led to the construction of public buildings, squares and urban sculptures, monuments installed in public spaces that narrate a fact or adorn the environment. These sculptures are part of the category of intentional monuments, as they have essential elements that fulfill a remembrance function. Due to the location, the sculptures are susceptible to theft, transfer from the original place, replacements from replicas, among other alterations. Therefore, this work aims to analyze the transformations and permanence of metallic sculptures inaugurated in Belém at the end of the 19th and 20th centuries. For this, documents, reports, newspapers, inventories, graphic and photographic records were researched. As a result, the processes of creation and transformation of these assets over the years were identified, as well as an update of the inventory of monuments remaining in the city
