Since 1994, university programs offering degrees in ethno-education have emerged in different regions of Colombia. The approach underlying these teacher training processes draws on the perspective of ethno-education formalized in Law 115 of 1994 and Decree 804 of 1994. The approach on which these teacher training processes are based reflects the perspective of ethno-education formalized in Law 115 of 1994 and Decree 804 of 1995, regulations that recognize the education of ethnic groups and the right of indigenous peoples and Afro-descendant communities to cultural control over their education.
