This article proposes a dialogue between artistic-pedagogical proposals with reading and theatricality and qualira literature. Qualira is a pejorative term, typical from São Luís - MA, that names effeminate homosexuals (which here is resignified as an act of resistance). The experiment took place in 2019, during workshop for teachers from multiple areas of knowledge. The goals were to investigate the power of metaphor in literature with qualira themes, in addition to proposing the approximation of the participants to the Northeastern vocabulary in interlocution with the practices of reading and theatricality. Based on these assumptions, authors such as Jackson Sá-Silva (2012) and Alderico Almeida (2022), Carmen Bobes (2004) and Heloise Vidor (2016, 2020) supported the work. The data were collected and analyzed from photographic, oral and written records of participants of the workshop. Keywords: theatre pedagogy, qualira, reading and theatricality, theater teaching
