In this article we explore how we build our relationships with the actors in the struggles of indigenous communities for self-determination, in the negotiation processes with state actors, and in other areas, such as academia or in media engagement, as female militant lawyers and members of Collective Emanticpations. Our analysis is intersectional. We depart from a gender perspective to analyze how gender roles determine certain interactions, but also in how our position is negotiated in dynamics where ethnicity and formal education are also relevant. This work is the product of situated knowledge. Thus, this contribution is based on an auto-ethnographic methodology, and on the construction of texts in a collaborative manner, based on dialogues between the authors mediated by academic experiences
