Modern education is undergoing significant changes as artificial intelligence (AI) is introduced into learning processes. The scientific research presented in this article aims to analyze the perception and use of AI by higher education students. Using surveys, we found out how students assess the level of use of AI and its role in learning foreign languages. The study results provide greater insight into whether students perceive AI as a tool for self-directed learning and the extent to which they are willing to use it to solve educational problems. This research has important implications for the development of educational strategies that promote better integration of AI into educational processes and meet the needs of students. As further research, we are going to work out and pilot a model of AI integration into teaching foreign languages to create personal learning path
