This article discusses the ‘Lepontic’ coin legend AnareKarTos and claims that there are no grounds to depart from the morphological analysis accepted for decades in favour of the one suggested recently in this journal. It offers a number of formally acceptable interpretations of it, none of which could be seen as final since the semantic component of the reconstruction is missing. The rough calculus of variants also considers different morphological shapes of the proto-form underlying AnareKarTos, and the article discusses the anthroponym Anareuiśeos from the inscription from San Bernardino di Briona (Novare), which is traditionally analysed alongside the coin-legend
