This bibliographical review will cover a sample of the relatively modest number of scholarly and other commentaries on the Hispanic dimension of Joseph Conrad's work. Some of these are drawn from the range of sources consulted and cited by the authors of the essays that constitute the element of original research in this issue. Since in the essays these sources have been drawn upon selectively for the purposes of illustration or substantiation, allusion to them in that context does not acquire the proportions of a review as such. This review, however, intends to provide something approaching a critical synopsis of each. The bibliographical review covers selected recent scholarship on the reception of Conrad's work in Spain, which, while including reference to the Hispanic aspect of the author's work, exceeds by far in scope this particular issue; historical commentary, by which we mean relatively early discussion of Conrad's work's Hispanic aspect; Conrad's potential affiliation to the Hispanic literary system and canon; and the small number of sources engaging directly with Conrad's Hispanic dimension.
