The term context is used in several ways in international management. In the more general way, context describes the environment around a specific focus, such as the geographic area, business conditions, cultural assumptions, and unique history. Context also is used more specifically to describe the communication process environment across cultures. Cultures vary to the extent that they use language itself and not environment to convey meaning, as explained by Hall.
