The psychology of strategic management draws inspiration from the behavioral sciences to understand why firms act in particular ways. This approach draws attention to how managers' mental processes influence strategic action. Rather than assuming that strategizing is objectively or even intendedly rational, a psychological approach holds that strategy formulation and implementation are always exercised within the bounds of human cognitive limitations and that strategic action often reflects subjective perceptions, judgments, and goals as much as objective analysis or normatively valued choice.
