Training is concerned with the systematic design of learning in organizations. It typically involves a needs assessment, the actual training, and development and evaluation of the outcomes. Methods of training vary greatly from traditional classroom methods to use of advanced technologies. It may occur on‐ or off‐the‐job. Understanding of the psychology of learning and of learners and appreciation of the context for learning can facilitate effective training. Provision of sufficient resources is also essential to ensure successful training outcomes.
