Leontios (?–218 bce ) was Captain of the Peltasts during the reign of Philip V of Macedon. According to Polybius, he was involved in the “Apelles Conspiracy” (219–218 bce ) which allegedly aimed to sabotage the king's relationship with the Achaian League, its leader Aratos of Sikyon, and his military operations against Aitolia in the Social War (220–217 bce ). He was executed by Philip in 218 bce following a mutiny among the peltasts and agema, and the production of letters indicating his involvement in the supposed plot.
