The Stelai

Inscribed documents with reliefs were erected by a number of Attic institutions and groups, but in their content they fall predominantly into two main categories, honorary decrees for individuals, and alliances and other agreements with foreign states. They also occur, although much less frequently, on accounts and inventories, on documents concerning cults and sanctuaries, on public dedications, and on several unusual documents that do not fit into any of these categories.
