Dahshur is situated about 45 km south of Cairo and is known for its Old and Middle Kingdom monuments (Alexanian and Seidlmayer 2000). Most recently, some New Kingdom history of the site is also beginning to reemerge. The site was probably occupied as early as the beginning of the Old Kingdom, if not earlier.
