This paper explores the language practices of Kabyle immigrant families. Drawing on language ideology and translanguaging, this paper examines how these families and their children communicate and bring distinct histories, narratives, and trajectories to interaction both offline and online, complemented by diverse linguistic and semiotic resources. The analysis allows for an understanding of how “being Kabyle” for parents and their children has involved both the ability of speaking and learning their heritage language, while highlighting the role of migration trajectories and multicultural environments in shaping the individuals’ perceptions and fostering their acceptance of cultural and linguistic diversity.
