This article examines the aesthetic praxis of Argentine author and filmmaker César González as an example of anti‐racist art that challenges the often‐sidelined racism faced by residents of poor neighbourhoods (known as villeros ), who are frequently presented as Argentina's Other. By looking at a selection of his theoretical writings and interviews, alongside close readings of selected extracts from his novels and films, we show how González's aesthetic praxis exposes and challenges the racism experienced by villeros through: (a) proposing villeritud as a framework linking local to global anti‐racist discourse; (b) building affective bonds as everyday anti‐racist solidarity and (c) criticising the media's commodification of marginality. Through this, González develops a class‐conscious anti‐racist aesthetic that transcends identity politics and top‐down multiculturalism, reclaiming villero authorship while challenging Argentina's historical denial of racism.
