The purpose of this study was to compare the variability of measured personality characteristics of 25 Amish and 25 non-Amish male youth, between the ages of 18 and 21, from the same community. This study assumed that the homogeneous nature of the Amish culture would predetermine greater similarity of personality among the Amish youth. The findings indicate that the aspect of personality similarity was significantly greater for the Amish group on 9 of 16 measures of personality. The findings were discussed in light of the Amish culture
