This study represents another chapter in our larger study of the reactions of juries to criminal cases involving the defense of insanity. The larger study focuses primarily on the reaction of persons drawn by lot from the community at large who are serving on their regular period of jury duty.1 The subsidiary studies, of which this is one, describe the reactions of special groups to the defense of insanity. These groups are special because they are made up of persons who are likely to have a different perspective on the problem than the general public, as a function of their position in the society and their personality characteristics
