Resumo

This study examines the impact of industrialization on the social and economic structures of Cantel, a Guatemalan community. The introduction of a textile factory led to significant changes in occupational patterns, family organization, and class stratification. While some residents benefited from increased wages and opportunities, others experienced displacement and economic hardship. The research highlights the complex and uneven effects of industrial development in a traditional society.
