In this revised and expanded edition of *La Voie des Masques*, Claude Lévi-Strauss revisits his structural analysis of Northwest Coast Native American art, particularly focusing on the masks and their role in myth and ritual. He deepens his exploration of the transformative power of masks, examining how they mediate between the human and spirit worlds, and how their iconography reflects complex social and cosmological structures. The added "excursions" further develop his theories on the relationship between art, myth, and social organization, incorporating new ethnographic data and refining his earlier interpretations. Lévi-Strauss argues that the masks, far from being static objects, are dynamic elements within a system of symbolic communication, revealing the underlying logic of mythical thought
