This study aimed to understand the intentions behind the actions of nursing professors and professors from other health areas in an undergraduate nursing course. Four professors from each category were interviewed using the guiding question: What do you expect from your teaching actions in this Nursing Course? The analysis framework used was Alfred Schütz's social phenomenology. It was revealed that the intentions of these professors' actions are to work with students, viewing them as future professionals, trying to make them reflect on their knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors, expecting them to be able to think critically, make decisions, and be technically competent. They also wish to collaborate in the students' personal growth, believing that being a professor is being a researcher, helping students acquire an investigative eye and intending to provide content that is meaningful for the students' personal and professional lives
