This article examines the kin term system of the Toba, an indigenous group in the Gran Chaco region of South America. Miller analyzes the complexities of Toba kinship terminology, highlighting its bifurcate merging features and the influence of social organization and cultural practices on kin classification. The study reveals how Toba kin terms reflect not only genealogical relationships but also social roles, obligations, and behavioral patterns within the community. Miller argues that understanding the Toba kin term system provides valuable insights into their social structure and worldview
