This dissertation examines the influence strategies employed by husbands and wives in purchase decision-making within the context of lowland South America. Focusing on how decisions are negotiated and influenced within the marital dyad, the study explores the dynamics of power, communication, and cultural expectations that shape consumer choices. By analyzing ethnographic data, the research investigates the specific tactics used by each spouse to persuade the other, considering factors such as gender roles, economic contributions, and the type of purchase being considered. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of household decision-making processes in the region and shed light on the interplay between individual preferences and shared goals within the marital relationship
