Application d'un modele ideal de la tenure fonciere a Sri Lanka (Obeyeskere, 1967) a l'analyse de la peche cotiere utilisant des seines de plage dans le village de Mawelle, habite par la caste de pecheurs Karave, sur la cote sud du pays. Ce modele contient trois elements: le concept de territoire en tant que propriete commune de personnes apparentees, l'utilisation des genealogies pour attribuer des parts variables de ce domaine, et un systeme de rotation pour compenser les effets de l'environnement
